There are nine yacht and boating clubs in Halifax Municipality alone, as well as countless public wharves along the shores of Nova Scotia.

Both the immediate harbours of Sambro and Ketch Harbour offer hurricane hole safety for the sometimes harsh eastern Atlantic.

Since as far back as 1856 Chester has held sailing regattas and now – more than 160 years later – with hundreds of participants and countless spectators Chester Race Week is regarded as one of North America’s greatest sailing events.
